Dell 3878 Wifi Drivers

Accepted the invitation to upgrade my Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Series to Windows 10. It was working fine up until the Windows 10 upgrade. Now it won't access the Internet. I'm using a different computer on the same router / modem right now, so I know the Internetis available.The Dell won't connect using wireless or wired. When I plug the wire in, the Ethernet status shows 'Internet not available' and 'Network not available', but it starts counting the duration I've been connected and shows connected at 100mb.It has Norton antivirus on it.

I disabled everything including the firewall, still no internet access.A Dell tech had me interrupt the boot sequence by pressing F12 and then run a hardware test. It took a while, but it came back and showed no issues. Then he wanted $129 to provide more help. I'm hoping to resolve without doing that.The Windows Network Troubleshooter says 'One or more network protocols are missing on this computer'.I'm not sure how to identify what is missing or how to install it. It took quite a long time - probably 15 minutes - and came back with 'no hardwareissues found' or something like that. The Dell rep then transferred me to a different customer support phone number for software support, they said they could walk me through fixing it for $129. I hung up with them and then found this web site.I was not able to implement the first response from Arnav because I didn't know how to install the network drivers.And the message the laptop was giving didn't seem like a Winsock Registry issue.So I called Dell back, talked to a different person, they had be go into Device Manager and delete the wireless card and re-boot. That fixed it.Similar to what Kate Li recommended.It was a little disappointing to read Kate's request for model info when my post on 15 January 2016 states ' I have a Dell Inspiron 15.

I went to the Dell site and found this page with a network driver for download:page says the driver is for the 3441 and 3541 models.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15. Somewhere I think I saw that mine is a 3000 series, but I can't find it again. The Service Tag number is 26V0432, Express Service Code is, and the other numberson the bottom of the machine are '33308/SDPPI/2014' and '3878'. Will that driver work for my laptop?I found two different Wifi/Bluetooth drivers on the Dell Driver Download site:Updated 2015: 2014: message says to download the latest drivers, but I'm not sure why Dell still has the 2014 version out there if the 2015 version does the same thing.Like the network driver, the wifi driver web pages list Dell Inspiron 3441, 3442, 3541, 3542.Once I'm certain which drivers are correct, I can download them to a USB on this computer. What is required to 'install them' on the Dell? Do I just copy them somewhere? Do I have to uninstall the wifi and network devices through DeviceManager?

And then reboot?I'm somewhat technically inclined, but don't know much about hardware and drivers and networking. Encryption KeyWhen a wireless router has encryption enabled, you must enter a key consisting of letters, numbers and symbols when connecting. If you fail to enter the correct key, Windows displays an error message. To confirm that your Inspiron is unable to connect to a wireless network because of an incorrect encryption key, you can connect the Inspiron to the router with an Ethernet cable, log in to the router administration screen and reset the password. Alternatively, try connecting to a wireless router that you are certain does not use encryption.

System FilesIf you are still unable to connect to wireless networks after installing the wireless device driver, improving the signal strength as much as possible and attempting to connect to multiple different routers, your Inspiron may have a corrupted system file preventing its networking features from working properly. You can have Windows scan all system files by launching the Command Prompt as a system administrator and typing the command 'sfc /scannow.'

If this fails to resolve the issue, it may be necessary to back up your files and repair the Inspiron using the recovery disc or partition.
