Mass Effect 2 Element Zero Rich Planets

Am I the only one that actually likes ME2's planet scanning?I guess a lot of people don't get that there's a strategy to it. Go for the smallest planets-always. Smaller=higher concentration of resources. You can get 25-50k of resources from a single planet. Some materials are more common than others, so if you do this a few times you'll hit one that's rich in the rarer stuff. By the end of my last ME2 playthrough, I had literally 100k extra resources in some materials and I only went planet scanning three times (probably covered 30 planets total). I could have done half as much and gotten by too, I just did more than necessary because I like the mechanic and wanted to have extras on hand in case something expensive turned up.It's pretty minimal effort if you know what you're doing.

Modding seems rather extreme to me, but you can always modify the save file if you're desperate. Hacking is just pointless filler and I'll be glad to mod that out.Planet scanning for resources, in itself, is NOT horrible. It does even have a sort of strategy about it that can really minimize your time doing it to a non-annoying level. But I've done it enough I'll be glad to mod that out as well.Considering that I'm otherwise completionist, I'll still spend over 30, 40+ hours on a playthrough anyway (all DLC).I'm fine with modifying my game for certain reasons, especially if it doesn't affect me experience of the story. I changed some settings to get all ME1 achievements after I got almost all of the normal ones and I just didn't want to manage more playthroughs using that one particular ability or that one squadmate all the time (the achievements gave in-game bonuses).

I took the information from the Mass Effect wiki about the best planets for, and; and compiled it into a nice table you can edit as you play the game.Instructions. Copy and paste the table into a plain text editor for easier viewing and to fill out the Depleted? Best viewed using the Consolas font.

Use the Cluster, System, and Planet columns to get the planet’s location. The little letters next to the cluster name indicate whether there are any requirements to get to that planet or not.

Only one of the requirements must be met to unlock that part of the galaxy. The key for the letters is at the bottom of the table. The four X’s and O’s represent Element Zero, Iridium, Platinum, Palladium in that order. The Resources column lists which resources are rich on that planet. Rich is defined as having at least 9,000 for Iridium, Platinum, and Palladium; and at least 1,000 for Element Zero.

Planets

The Depleted? Column is initially all O’s. As you use up resources on a planet, fill this column in with X’s for the resources you exhausted.
